The "Save" button of Instagram only keeps a bookmark inside the app. When the post is deleted, your bookmark is gone too. To really keep a reel, a video or a photo you need the file. This is how to save Instagram reels, videos and photos with AIOVideoDL.
Download an Instagram reel or video
- Open the reel or the post in Instagram.
- Tap the paper plane or the three dots and choose Copy link.
- Open the Instagram downloader, paste the link and press Download.
- Save the MP4 file. It has the same quality as on Instagram.
Save photos and carousels
A post with several pictures or videos is called a carousel. Paste the link of the post and every picture and every video in it is listed, each with its own button. Photos are saved as JPG in the size Instagram stores them.
What works and what does not
| Kind of post | Can it be saved? |
|---|---|
| Public reels and videos | Yes |
| Public photos and carousels | Yes |
| Posts of private accounts | No, they are visible to approved followers only |
| Stories | Only while they are online, and only from public accounts |
If Instagram refuses
Instagram limits how often its pages may be read from one address. If a link does not work, wait a minute and try once more. Check also that the link opens in a private browser window: if it asks you to sign in there, the post is not public.
Respect the people who made the content. Save posts for yourself, and ask before you publish somebody else's work again.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a watermark on a downloaded reel?
No. You get the video file as it was uploaded, without a mark added by the downloader.
Can I download a reel with its music?
Yes. The sound is part of the video file, so the music comes with it.
Does Instagram tell the owner that I saved a post?
No. Downloading the file of a public post sends no notification.
