How to Download Facebook Videos and Reels in HD

A recipe, a tutorial, a clip of your family: Facebook is full of videos worth keeping, and it offers no way to save them as a file. Here is how to download Facebook videos and reels in HD with AIOVideoDL, on a phone or a computer, in under a minute.

  • In the Facebook app: tap Share under the video, then Copy link.
  • In a browser: click the three dots at the top of the post and choose Copy link, or open the video and copy the address from the address bar.

Short links that start with fb.watch work as well.

Step 2: paste it and choose the quality

  1. Open the Facebook video downloader.
  2. Paste the link and press Download.
  3. Choose HD when it is offered, or SD for a smaller file.

The file is saved as MP4 and plays in every gallery and player.

Reels, stories and live videos

Reels work the same way: share, copy link, paste. A live video can be downloaded after the broadcast has ended and Facebook has published the recording. Stories disappear after 24 hours, so save them while they are still online.

Why a video cannot be downloaded

  • It is private. A video that only friends or members of a group can see is invisible to every downloader. Only public videos can be saved.
  • The link is not a video link. Copy the link of the post that contains the video, not the link of a profile or a page.
  • Only SD is offered. Then the video was uploaded in low quality. No tool can add detail that is not there.

Tip: on a phone, add AIOVideoDL to your home screen. Then you can share a video from the Facebook app straight to the downloader.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download a Facebook video without an app?

Yes. Everything happens in the browser. Nothing needs to be installed on a phone or a computer.

Where is the downloaded video on my phone?

On Android it is in the Downloads folder and shows up in the gallery. On an iPhone it is in the Files app under Downloads; from there you can save it to Photos.

Does the person who posted the video get a notification?

No. Facebook does not know that a public video was saved.
